OBDLink Setup Guide: Connect Your ELD in Under 10 Minutes

December 20, 2024

Setting up your OBDLink device with LedLogs is straightforward. This guide walks you through every step, from unboxing to your first log entry.

Step 1: Locate your vehicle's OBD-II port. In most box trucks, the port is located under the dashboard on the driver's side. It's a 16-pin connector that looks like a trapezoid. Some vehicles may have it behind a panel — check your owner's manual if you can't find it.

Step 2: Plug in your OBDLink adapter. The device should click firmly into the OBD-II port. Once connected, you'll see an LED light indicating power. The adapter draws power from the vehicle, so no separate charging is needed.

Step 3: Download the LedLogs app from the App Store or Google Play. Create your account if you haven't already — you just need your name, email, and business name.

Step 4: Enable Bluetooth on your phone or tablet and open the LedLogs app. Go to Settings, then Device, and tap 'Pair New Device.' Select your OBDLink adapter from the list. The pairing should complete in a few seconds.

Step 5: Enter your vehicle information — VIN, make, model, year, and license plate number. The app may auto-detect some of this from the OBD-II data. Confirm the details and you're done. Your ELD is now recording and you're compliant.
